Buzzing Murray Bridge (named for its famous bridge) is a rural town in South Australia. Home for many, the town also attracts a number of tourists – especially in summer – for its relaxing riverside location.

Reasons to visit Murray Bridge in 2022
1. It’s only an hour from Adelaide
To begin with, Murray Bridge is not far away. In fact, located only an hour from Adelaide, your drive here is totally painless. When travelling with the kids, make your life easy and opt for a place which is close in proximity, but feels absolutely miles away. You may even find that as you drive here, you leave the clouds behind. Murray Bridge is known for its sunny weather! Were not kidding.
2. There are a heap of water activities to enjoy
When the weather is good, there’s really no better place than Murray Bridge to cool down and enjoy the water. Amp up the pace and head to the river for a day of wakeboarding or water skiing. Otherwise, find a cosy spot, lay down a picnic blanket and enjoy some swimming or fishing. You could also bring your paddle board. Nearby rental business Freedom can also give you a helping hand with their kayaks and canoes available for hourly rental. You can easily spend an entire day on, or next to, the river in Murray Bridge.
3. It’s great for the kids
Grassy banks, a number of children’s playgrounds and the spacious Sturt Reserve, are great places to entertain the children during a stay in Murray Bridge. But when you’ve spent a whole day by the river, you might be looking for something else to do. Head to Monarto Safari Park where you can get up close and personal with lions, giraffes and rhinoceros amongst many other animals. Daily talks as well as Safari buses and a network of walking trails help you enjoy the park to the fullest. Monarto is the largest safari park outside of Africa, so there’s no way you can go wrong.
4. There’s plenty of nature to enjoy
Murray Bridge is surrounded by space and by wildlife. On the river, pelicans are a common sight and all kinds of birds as well as kangaroos can be spotted in the vicinity of the town. A great place to go if you’re looking to enjoy some green space, is Sturt Reserve. This long and sprawling park by the river offers picnic tables, waking trails and plenty of grass upon which local families enjoy having picnics and spending summer afternoons. Spanning the major waterway, the reserve is the perfect place to dangle in your toes on a hot day, but also to spot wildlife.
5. There are plenty of great restaurants
You’ll probably be surprised by the choice of restaurants you’re presented with in Murray Bridge. In recent years, a number of friendly cafes and great eateries have emerged in the town. Of course, you’ll also find some classics for pub food and hearty dinners! Head to Riverscape Restaurant on the forefront of the River Murray and indulge in a quality meal, all the while soaking in relaxing views. Alternatively, at Murray Bridge Club, choose from a range of classics and discover the local vibrant atmosphere whilst you sip on a crisp and cold local wine or craft beer.
6. There’s a great hotel to stay at
