The Port Pirie Smelter is located on the eastern shore of the Spencer Gulf. The lead smelter makes for the perfect industrial photography especially with a sky of fog at dawn. Or down by the port as the ships come to dock.

This man-made beach offers a safe inlet for swimmers or kayakers to enjoy a paddle. The view from the jetty makes more the perfect sunrise or sunset photo opportunities and provides visitors with a new appreciation for Port Pirie’s natural beauty. A drive across John Pirie Bridge also gives a unique perspective of Port Pirie by night when the smelter and city centre lights up.
The Harbour at dawn or dusk
The Harbour is the perfect place to watch on as the boats come to dock in the early hours of each morning and the sun starts to rise over the Flinders Ranges in the distance. Alternatively, visit the harbour at night when the city lights up and the boats are left to moor.
