Whale Watching season is well and truly underway with active sightings already recorded along our coastlines.
Southern Right whales inhabit the coastline of Victor Harbor between May and October every year due to the warm waters offering ideal breeding and calving conditions. The whales can be seen off the beaches of Encounter Bay or from local lookouts, where you might also be lucky to spot a Humpback or Fin whale emerging from the water.
These magnificent marine mammals are well worth the visit to Victor Harbor each winter just to catch a glimpse of a breaching Humpback whale or a breath of a South Right whale blowing water several metres high above the water’s surface.
The whales have arrived so grab your binoculars and visit Victor Harbor this weekend!
