Then, during the months of May – October, visitors flock to Victor Harbor to whale watch with the help of information from the SA whale centre, located in the town.
Another highlight of staying in Victor Harbor is access to the famous Granite Island, situated just off the shore. Take the horse-drawn tram across the historic bridge or simply walk across and wander around the granite boulders whilst gazing out to sea. The island is also home to little penguins who can be seen at night on a guided tour.
To discover the coastline of the Fleurieu Peninsula from Victor Harbor, the encounter bikeway begins here and will take you all the way along the coast to Goolwa. A great way to see the region, is to walk or cycle the entire 30-kilometre path, exploring the towns along the way. You could also hop on the historic cockle train to come back.
