The annual Royal Adelaide Show returns to the Adelaide Showgrounds this September. Traditionally, the Show begins on the first Friday of the month, this year falling on the 2nd of September and will run for 10 days until the 11th.
The Show once began as an agricultural showcasing and competing event. Today, the core of the Show still remains focused around agriculture however competitive entries, such as art & craft, food & wine and photography have also become popular attractions throughout the event. The Royal Adelaide Show features entries from 63 competitive sections, attracting over 30,000 entries annually.
If cattle judging or wood-chopping aren’t for you, the Show features entertainment, exhibitors, sideshows, and of course everyone’s favourite rides and showbags! Visit the food pavilion and sample some of the best South Australian produce and wine on offer, as you sit back and enjoy a demonstration by one of the many celebrity chefs cooking up a storm. Or for just $10, collect your bag and follow the Yellow Brick Road. A fun way to visit all corners of the Show and sometimes see things that might otherwise have been missed, whilst collecting something new at each Yellow Brick Road station you visit.
Get your blood rushing and jump on the Crazy Coaster or the thrill-seeking Breakdance. For those who dare, be flung over 100 metres into the air on the Slingshot! But if fast speeds don’t interest you, slow things down on the Swing Carousel or the famous Ferris Wheel.
A day at the Show would not be complete without the excitement of the FMX team as they take over the main arena with breathtaking stunts followed by a roaring performance by the Isuzu D-MAX utes. To top things off, the nightly spectacular fireworks are a sight to behold!
The family friendly event is attended by up to half a million people every year, making it the State’s biggest event. So get in early, avoid the lines and don’t miss out on all the fun!
